(1) To support the Canberra Journey of Healing Network, Ngunnawal, other Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and groups in the ACT and surrounding region. Strategies will include:
Arranging appropriate events and programs to assist the healing of those Indigenous people who were removed, and their families and communities; Organising appropriate events to improve relations between Indigenous and other Australians; Seeking and administering grants to support proposals initiated by Ngunnawal and other local Indigenous communities.
(2) To support and promote implementation of the recommendations of the Bringing them home Report, in consultation with local Indigenous people. Strategies will include:
Researching, monitoring and encouraging local action towards the Bringing them home recommendations; Working with governments and community organisations towards improving the well-being of local Indigenous communities and their access to services.
(3) To support community education about the effects of child removal policies on Indigenous individuals, families and communities. Strategies will include:
Encouraging governments and community organisations at all levels to increase their knowledge and awareness of Indigenous history and culture; Supporting and creating opportunities for cross-cultural education and contact among the wider community.
