A number of Community Progress Reports have been published on ACT action towards the recommendations of the 1997 Bringing them home report.

The first Community Progress Report grouped all the Bringing them home recommendations into subject areas, and summarised the actions needed. It then reported on those actions. Low awareness of the report and its issues was found, and apologies by some churches were the main actions identified.

The second report used the same format, and found that awareness of some of the issues had grown.
Strategies to improve services to Indigenous people were starting to be developed in Government agencies.

The third report used the same format but did not repeat the content of the earlier reports. It made a number of recommendations to progress those actions that were still outstanding.
